Keep your space tidy with this easy quilted basket sewing pattern - pretty, practical and fun to sew!

Pink fabric baskets filled with yarn and thread on a white table, near scissors and spools. A green plant decorates the background.

If you enjoy quick and easy sewing projects that are both beautiful and useful, you’re going to love making these quilted baskets.

With three sizes included, these fully lined, padded fabric baskets are perfect for organising all sorts of bits and pieces around your home, office, or craft space. They’re fun to make and nest neatly inside one another, so they don’t take up much space when not in use.

A Great Project for Beginners

This pattern is designed with beginners in mind - no tricky maths or measuring required! All three basket sizes come with printable pattern pieces to make cutting easy and stress-free. I’ll guide you through every step with clear instructions and plenty of photos, so even if you're just starting out, you can feel confident and supported from start to finish.

Pink floral fabric baskets hold yarn and crochet items. Spools of thread in various colors are scattered nearby on a white surface.

Dimensions

The finished dimensions of each size included with this pattern are:

Small:    13cm base x 8cm high (5 x 3 inches)

Medium:  15cm base x 10cm high (6 x 4 inches)

Large:    18cm base x 12.5cm high (7 x 5 inches)

These sizes make the baskets versatile enough for a variety of uses, from holding small desk supplies to keeping craft supplies organised or even tidying up small toys and accessories.

Finishing Touches

With their fully lined interior and thick, quilted sides to give them a lovely texture, these baskets have just the right amount of structure to stand upright on their own. The vertical quilting also gives them a soft, cosy feel while helping them hold their classic round shape without feeling stiff or rigid. The padded base adds cushioning as well as subtle support. Altogether, these baskets bring a lovely, handmade touch to any space.

What You'll Need

You can use quilting cotton, decorator fabrics, lightweight denim, or any other non-stretch fabric you have in your stash. You’ll also need polyester wadding or batting for quilting, a small amount of fusible fleece for the base, and extra fabric for the lining.

Each basket takes around an hour to sew, making this a great weekend project or even a lovely last-minute gift idea.
