Stock photos are a great resource for micro and small business owners. They are photos that are taken, often specifically for creative or business purposes, and commercially made available for others to use.
There are many reasons why you'd want to use stock photos in your business, my top six are:
1. To Save Time
We all know how busy it can be running your own business and the last thing you want to do is spend valuable time taking photos for your blog or social media when you’ve got a million other things to do. Having access to high quality stock photos can save you a lot of time because you can quickly and easily search for the perfect photo for your posts, download and use straight away.
2. To save money
There are two ways using stock photos can save you money. The first is because you’re saving time... and time is money, right? The second is that stock photos are significantly cheaper than the cost of hiring a professional to do the job.
3. To add variety
Regular social media posting is a lot of work, no question about it, and coming up with new content frequently can be difficult. Using stock photos relevant to your brand is a great way to add some variety to your usual posts, giving your audience something new to look at without the stress of having to create it yourself.
4. To have better quality photos than you can take yourself
Even with the excellent cameras on smart phones these days, photography might not be your thing. Rather than fussing around trying to get the perfect shot yourself, you can use a stock photo instead to do the same job, in a fraction of time and much less stress!
5. You don’t have access to the thing you need a photo of
Sometimes you might be writing about a topic that needs a particular photo that you aren’t able to take yourself. With the huge range of stock photos available these days, you’re sure to find a photo of exactly what you need.
6. Simply because they are convenient
Even if you spend a bit of time searching for the right one, there’s no doubt that using a stock photo is a lot more convenient than taking one yourself. You can be guaranteed of a high quality image and know exactly how it’s going to look without the need to take a hundred shots to get it right.
